Carton is a Do-It-Yourself smart glasses using a mobile phone and simple materials like cardboard.
Smart glasses are still expensive and hard to obtain, this humble project intends to fix these issues by allowing everyone to create some prototype, customize it and try new experiments. Carton aims to improve innovation and creativity by openly providing a simple way to access these technologies.

Build it yourself, it is quick, affordable and easy. Just print the blueprint and follow the construction guide on Instructable or watch these Youtube videos. Everything is explained from the list of material and tools, to the blueprints and each step.
Carton for Android SDK enable you to easily create or adapts existing apps for Carton with auto-adapting screen and gesture recognition. It is packed with the official demo app that you can explore for the sake of learning. It is open-source and fully compatible with augmented reality technologies such as Vuforia.

This project was funded by governmental institution Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada and private companies OHRIZON (ex 44 screens) and l'île imagin'air. It was also supported by academic laboratories (LICEF, LIUM) and universities (TÉLUQ, Le Mans Université).
